Ascent of Volcán Llaima

Volcán Llaima, rising 3,125 metres above sea level, is one of the largest and most active volcanoes in Chile, located in the heart of Parque Nacional Conguillío, in the Araucanía region. Its imposing silhouette dominates a landscape of ancient araucaria forests and lakes of volcanic origin. The ascent takes two days: the first to approach the mountain and set up a high camp, and the second to summit via glaciers and volcanic terrain. Experience with crampons and ice axe is required, as the slopes in the upper section are sustained and exposed. From the summit, you are rewarded with an extraordinary panoramic view of Parque Conguillío, the Sierra Nevada and the neighbouring volcanoes. This is a mountain that demands preparation and respect, and repays both with a complete and fulfilling mountaineering experience.
