About the experience
A grand 14-day journey along Santa Cruz's Ruta 40: glaciers and trekking in El Calafate and El Chaltén, the remote Parque Nacional Perito Moreno, Lago Posadas, Los Antiguos, Parque Patagonia, and the rock art of Cueva de las Manos.
A 14-day, 13-night program through deep Patagonia, moderate level (trekking experience required). Season: October to April.
- Days 1–2: arrival in El Calafate and boat excursion to Glaciar Perito Moreno, with walkways.
- Day 3: transfer to El Chaltén and visit to the Madsen house-museum.
- Days 4–5: full-day treks to Loma del Pliegue Tumbado (20 km) and Laguna de los Tres (22 km).
- Day 6: travel along Ruta 40 and gravel roads to Parque Nacional Perito Moreno.
- Days 7–9: trekking in the park, with accommodation in mountain huts or an estancia.
- Day 10: travel to Lago Posadas.
- Day 11: scenic Route 41 to Los Antiguos.
- Day 12: trekking in Parque Patagonia and arrival at the town of Perito Moreno.
- Day 13: visit to Cueva de las Manos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Day 14: end of services, with flight from El Calafate or Comodoro Rivadavia.
