About the experience
A 7-day traverse ranked among the best in the Americas: from the Jujeña Puna to the Southern Yungas, crossing mountain passes above 4,100 m and high-altitude communities, finishing at 1,300 m in Peña Alta, at the gateway to Parque Nacional Calilegua.
A trekking traverse that journeys from the Jujeña Puna deep into the Southern Yungas, reaching a maximum altitude of around 4,150–4,165 m and finishing at 1,300 m in Peña Alta, near Parque Nacional Calilegua.
- Day 1: flight from Aeroparque to Jujuy and overnight in Tilcara.
- Day 2: group meeting in Tilcara, luggage handover for porterage and technical briefing.
- Day 3: transfer to Casa Colorada (3,000 m), ascent to Abra de la Cruz and descent to the Huairahuasi refuge (approx. 20 km).
- Day 4: ascent to Cerro Cumbre Grande and arrival at the community of Molulo (approx. 13 km).
- Day 5: traverse of Abra del Potrero to San Lucas (2,500 m), with overnight stay (approx. 23 km).
- Day 6: descent to Peña Alta and transfer back to Tilcara (approx. 14 km).
- Day 7: return flight Jujuy–Buenos Aires.
Difficulty: sustained moderate. Group size: 15 people. Guides in Spanish.
