About the experience
A one-of-a-kind day on the Beagle Channel: flag trees, Puerto Almanza, and an unforgettable culinary experience at Diana's home — the only female captain on the Beagle — cooking and tasting the flavors of the Fuegian sea, step by step.
More than an excursion, this is an experience that brings together nature and gastronomy in a truly original and exclusive way. The journey begins in Ushuaia, heading north to the turnoff onto Ruta Provincial J, which winds back down to the Beagle Channel, with a stop and snack at laguna Victoria.
At bahía Brown, a detour leads to the famous flag trees — dramatically shaped by the relentless southwest winds. The route then continues to Puerto Almanza, the area's main artisanal fishing port, known above all for its king crab (centolla) harvest.
A few kilometers further, Diana's home awaits. One of the most celebrated fisherwomen in the region and the only female captain on the Beagle Channel, Diana guides guests through every dish of the remarkable Beagle sea — a cooking and tasting experience that makes for an unforgettable culinary and social encounter.
Suggested itinerary:
- 8:00 Hotel pick-up
- 9:00 Arrival at laguna Victoria
- 10:00 Stop at the flag trees
- 11:00 Arrival at Diana the fisherwoman's home
- 11:30 Culinary experience and lunch
- 16:00 Return to Ushuaia
Important: reaching Diana's home requires a 1 km walk along an uneven forest trail. Lunch venue is suited to small groups. Operates Tuesday to Saturday. Daily tours in Spanish/English.
