Beagle Channel Catamaran Cruise
Canal Beagle, Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina
Beagle Channel Catamaran Cruise is a sailing, wildlife watching, birdwatching, and hiking experience on the Beagle Channel, Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, available year-round. Offered by ANTARTUR (EVT 12896) / Nunatak SA, a member provider of the Asociación Argentina de Ecoturismo y Turismo Aventura (AAETAV). Includes a Spanish/English bilingual guide.
About the experience
A classic sailing excursion from the port of Ushuaia along the Beagle Channel: sea lion and cormorant colonies at the Bridges Islands, the Les Eclaireurs lighthouse, and — weather permitting — a landing and walk on Mary Ann Island.
The excursion begins at the port of Ushuaia, right in the heart of the city. The boat first sails across Bahía Ushuaia, offering panoramic views of the city, the old prison (now the Maritime Museum), the End of the World Museum, and the Olivia and Cinco Hermanos mountains.
At the Bridges Islands, passengers can spot colonies of imperial cormorants and South American sea lions, as well as rock cormorants, kelp gulls, South American terns, southern giant petrels, black-browed albatrosses, skuas, and upland geese. Weather permitting, there is a landing on Mary Ann Island for an easy walk with panoramic views of Ushuaia and the Andes mountain range.
The cruise continues toward the Les Eclaireurs archipelago, about 17 km southeast of Ushuaia, where the iconic Les Eclaireurs lighthouse — a symbol of the City at the End of the World — stands alongside bird and sea lion colonies and the wreck of the Monte Cervantes (1930). The return journey follows the northern shore of the Beagle Channel, passing by Estancia Túnel and the Playa Larga Natural and Cultural Reserve.
